April

April Eldemire is a licensed and widely respected Marriage & Family Therapist located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Meet April Eldemire, LMFT

A couples therapist who understands how painful it is to feel disconnected from the person you love.

I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, one of the most research-backed approaches to helping couples reconnect. But more importantly, I help you make sense of what’s happening in your relationship in a way that actually feels clear, grounded, and doable.

This isn’t about choosing sides or assigning blame. It’s about helping both of you feel seen, understood, and close again.

A Word from April:

I didn’t become a couples therapist because relationships are easy.

I became one because they’re not. Because I’ve seen how two people can love each other deeply… and still feel completely disconnected at the same time. Because I’ve witnessed how quickly miscommunication can turn into distance—and how painful it is when the person you want to feel closest to starts to feel the furthest away. And because I know that when that disconnection sets in, it doesn’t just stay in the relationship—it follows you into everything.

Why I Do This Work

There’s a moment that happens in so many relationships. It’s not loud or dramatic. It’s quiet. It’s the moment where you stop reaching the way you used to. Where conversations feel heavier. Where something that once felt natural… starts to feel effortful. That moment matters. Because left alone, it creates more distance. But with the right support, it can become the beginning of something different. That’s the space I work in.

My Approach

I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a research-backed approach that helps couples rebuild connection by understanding the emotional dynamics underneath their interactions.

But more than any model or method, what I offer is a way to help you slow down and truly see each other again.

In our work, I’m not looking for who’s right or wrong.

I’m paying attention to:

  • what’s not being said
  • what’s being misunderstood
  • and what each of you is needing, but not quite able to reach for

Because when those things become clear, something shifts.

Not perfectly.
Not all at once.

But meaningfully.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Couples often tell me they feel a sense of relief early on.

Not because everything is suddenly fixed—but because, for the first time in a while, they feel understood.

Our work together is:

  • collaborative, not corrective
  • grounded, not overwhelming
  • honest, but never shaming
You won’t be blamed.
You won’t be judged.

You’ll be supported in understanding yourself and each other in a way that creates real change.

The Human Side of Me

Outside of the therapy room, I’m someone who deeply values presence.

I’m usually starting my mornings the same way—negotiating with my alarm clock and convincing myself that coffee counts as self-care.

And honestly… some days, it does.

I find grounding in simple things:

  • a long walk or workout
  • baking something from scratch
  • a quiet moment before the day fully begins

Those rhythms matter to me. They keep me steady.

Because this work asks a lot—and I believe showing up well for others starts with being rooted in my own life, too.

What I Believe About Relationships

I don’t believe in perfect relationships.

I don’t believe in getting it right all the time.

I believe in repair.
In emotional honesty.
In learning how to stay connected, even when it’s hard.

I believe that people are doing the best they can with what they’ve learned—and that with the right support, they can learn new ways of showing up for each other.

And I believe that feeling truly seen and understood by your partner is one of the most powerful experiences we can have.

If You’re Here

If you’ve landed here, something in your relationship probably matters enough to you that you’re looking for a way forward.

That matters.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
You don’t need to be in crisis.

You just need a willingness to look at what’s happening—and the support to do it differently.
